I had lots of fun creating this rendition of Star Wars. Vader and his Stormtrooper buddy were created with pen/ink and digitally colored. There’s a great Asian influence in the notion of “the force” (chi) and swordplay, so I wanted to capitalize on that via the Japanese Samurai theme. These pop culture icons also went through the retro-futuristic filter, which allows for a great freedom in artistic exploration.

I’ve always loved vinyl records, iconic objects of great musical exploration and nostalgia. This piece is a combination of an older 7″ 45 RPM vinyl record and the newer 12″ 33⅓ RMP vinyl, with an overlay of metallic paints and a jewelry embellishment. The outward pattern is an abstract zentangle style, surrounding a circular abstract rose illustration. To get to this point, I went through several experiments on vinyl and a few trips to Rasputins record store but it was all well worth it. 🙂

Here’s a detailed horse illustration created in a traditional vintage steampunk style with gears and a clock face in the background. The print is available HERE at my Etsy shop. The horse was created with pen/ink first, then scanned and transferred to Photoshop, cleaned up, and a few color tones and textures were added.
