While posed, living-statue photos are the norm for weddings, I enjoy the documentary/photojournalistic style more. The quiet moments are always more intriguing.

Einoma Album

The good folks at Lamadameaveclechien (IMALC), an indie record label in Brussels, Belgium used one of my sketches for the album art for Einoma, an atmospheric electronica group from Iceland. You could check out a few clips from Tvenna EP on the IMALC site here.

It’s very exciting and fulfilling to have my artwork gain a new life with other artists and to discover something new along the way. In this case, it’s opened up my mind to new, inspiring music.

Excerpt from the IMALC site:
After three years of silence and six years since the highly acclaimed “Milli Tonverka” LP, Reykjavik´s Einoma return with a highly beat-driven and epic two track EP for Lamadameaveclechien. Composing for the first time pieces based on live sets and improvisations, the EP shows a more organic nature of Einoma´s sound. Its complex sound flow still remains very rhythmic and almost dance floor like in it´s unfolding sound quality. Big emphasis on bass, icy textures, detailed sound design and an almost repetitive narrative is the main focus point of these two very original and dramatic pieces. The EP comes with a stunning artwork and a big poster from Sherrie Thai from Shaire productions who´s ‘graphic alchemy’ seems to fit the music perfectly on a fundamental level.

Rwanda Woman Weaving a Basket

As Christmas is coming, why not shop for good? The Rwanda Path to Peace Collection is available at Macy’s and several other small community centers.

After the 1994 genocide, Rwandan women found themselves with the task of rebuilding their lives and their country, as nearly 1 million of their countrymen were killed. The baskets offer nearly 4,000 female artisans the chance to attain a sustainable income through the project. The baskets run from $25 to $80. In its fifth year, the project is still growing. Bird of Prey, Feeding

I happened to be in the passenger’s seat of a moving car when I spotted this wonderful creature. I urged my brother to stop as the sight just made my day. It was so exciting to see this amazing creature (Falcon/Hawk? outside of a National Geographic magazine) with his meal so close, on the ground, and feeding! It seemed to have gobbled up the head of his victim, which I assume was a female pigeon or seagull. After a few moments, the bird tried hopping about–meal in-tow–creating a great spectacle.
