A wonderfully talented art buddy of mine, Tony Perez passed away yesterday due to a heart attack. His multi-layered art portraits were amazingly detailed and colorful works never failed to inspire. Tony’s passing was sudden and while his art will live on, his encouraging and sweet demeanor will be missed.
Here is a quote from his Flickr bio: “Everyone’s art is a reflection on their own personal experiences in life, the small things in life that seem to stand out as we make the journey. The way we view our surroundings and the times we live in. With such a mish mush of culture and commercialism it is easy to look to the past but always keeping an eye and your feet planted in the present.”

Santacon is pure Christmas fun and joy! View all the photos in my Flickr album.
The flashmob event began in 1994 on the streets on SF and is now a global red tide, with hundreds of Santas and their helpers adding cheer to unsuspecting bystanders, restaurants and bars in various cities. More info on the Santarchy site.

My first art fair was so much fun. Many thanks to all who stopped by my (and Stef’s) table. The best part of the whole experience was talking to folks and getting feedback on what pieces and styles spoke to them. It was enlightening that sometimes animals (particularly phoenixes) and other subjects became healing symbols for a dark time or talismans in one’s life. The art prints, magnets and the custom jewelry (art pendants and steampunk) pieces were popular, so it’s very encouraging.
The other vendors I met were equally inspiring, such as the uber-cool shirts from Like Minded People and the delicious miniature pies from Charlie Frank.
The Crucible is always a great venue–for artistic inspiration and fostering creativity. Below is a brief video clip of one of the fire performances. Beautiful!
