On their own, skeletons naturally have a great mystery to them, where they can sway towards the dark or light, depending upon the context. “Burning Lotus” shows a meditative creature with magical candles, inspired by traditional Asian art. While this piece has qualities of religious artifacts, the intention is not to offend, but rather, honor the spiritual connection to supernatural elements.

“Forgotten Innocence” is a mixed media illustration of delicate skeletal cherubs holding on to the beauty and dangerousness of nature. This was inspired by macabre Victorian creations, mythology and the stunning Renaissance paintings of Italian masters.

Inspired by dark fantasy and watching too many episodes of American Horror Story and NBC’s Hannibal, “Excelsius Trio” crawled into my mind. Its ethereal quality captures the mysterious beauty and potential darkness of the supernatural. This Illustration was created with pen, graphite and digital coloring.
