“Of Death and Rebirth”, my finished piece for the Skate Art show at Mirius Gallery, curated by Irene Hernandez Feiks of Wonderland SF. The name is pretty straighforward–about the end and beginnings, shown through the skull and cicada, symbols of death and reincarnation. The mandala in the background represents nature’s cycle, that all is repeated. The skull is painted with flourishes, silver paint, and collaged with metal ornaments and abalone. The cicada is also painted with acrylics, color shifting paints, resin and topped with abalone shell–all responsibly sourced.
