Artwork: Pride & Propaganda

Pride & Propaganda

Posted by Sherrie Thai of Shaire Productions.

Pride & Propaganda is inspired by the Gothic art of the 1400s and the counterculture rumblings of modern street art. Weapons (guns, bullets, and grenade) become design elements, framing the skeletal figure and visually unifying the piece. The point of this artwork is not to offend religious persons, but rather, an artistic expression–to show that propaganda is a form of advertising, and the largest vehicles are war and religion.

RIP Frank Frazetta: Revolutionary Fantasy Artist

Frank Frazetta: Death Dealer

Posted by Sherrie Thai of Shaire Productions.

In the world of fantasy art, Frank Frazetta is the godfather. He created magical worlds of warriors and sensual women. He stretched the imagination and defined modern fantasy art, while influencing popular culture along the way (from books to film). “Conan the Barbarian” was one of his best known works. Technically and artistically, his work was flawless. You could find out more through the 2003 documentary “Frank Frazetta: Painting With Fire”. After suffering from a series of strokes, he began painting with his non-dominant left hand–I find this so inspirational–persevering through adversity while following his life’s passion. Frank Frazetta was a contemporary master artist.

Art is a mirror of culture–past, present, and future. Stelleconfuse organized a wonderful art project called Stick on Haring. It’s a collaborative art project with global street and sticker artists paying homage to whirlwind artist Keith Haring, 20 years after his death. The project involves covering reproductions of Harings’ models with stickers, fusing new street art with the old. The show will take place in Italy and beyond. Here are my art stickers that were submitted.
