Photo: Japantown Landmark

This photo was taken from the seldom-seen interior of the pagoda landmark in San Francisco’s Japantown. I love the urban ruggedness amidst the strong geometric shapes.

Artwork: Gaia, Earth Goddess

Gaia: Earth Goddess Image

Gaia: Earth Goddess is a mixed-media piece inspired by the mythologies of ancient Greece. She was believed to appear in courtyards and bore several mutant offspring, including Cyclops. This was created in pen/ink and colored in Photoshop. Artwork by Sherrie Thai of Shaire Productions.

Inspiration: Direct Mail Comeback

Brandweek Header

Direct Mail as “cutting edge” promotion? Brandweek posted an interesting article on how direct mail (postcards, newsletters, and other printed materials) is a hot item again since we seem to be overrun with online clutter. More here.

Artwork: Robot Sumo Bunny Rabbit

Robo Bunny Design

Since the sun’s out and Easter is arriving, I thought it was time for a Robo Sumo Bunny piece. The plump character was inspired by KungFu Panda–with his clumsy awkwardness, but loveable personality.

Artwork: Face Patterns

Face Patterns

I created Face Patterns as a background for another piece, but I think it’s rather interesting on its own. This was created in pen/ink on bristol, then scanned and digitally colored.
