Bastet, the cat goddess of protection found in Ancient Egyptian mythology, is immortalized in this illustration of pen/ink and digital coloring. Cats are often seen roaming about Egypt freely and revered, as they probably were in ancient times. I placed one of my photos from the historic Temple of Karnak in the background.

Before visiting the Red Sea, I knew it would be beautiful, but wow, photos alone did not do this place justice. I departed from the shores of Hurghada aboard a boat to a scuba diving location. The varying tones of the blue waters were intensely vibrant.

The “Hanging Church” (also known as Saint Virgin Mary’s Coptic Orthodox Church) in old Cairo, Egypt, has a fantastic mesh of Middle-Eastern geometric design and Basilican architecture. While approaching the entrance, there were a dozen heavily armed guards and a tank, a sad reminder of the perilous times we live in. The interior of the church was darker than I anticipated, but the lovely candles throughout created a mesmerizing ambiance.

Abu Simbel temples were on the top of my bucket list spots to visit. To see these great monuments in person simply took my breath away. The realism of the figures, grandness and associated history was epic.
