Tiki Zombie was inspired by vintage horror flicks and the famous Zombie cocktail drink (1934), composed of 3 different rums and fruit juices to stupify the happy consumer. During these Covid times, Tiki or Polynesian Pop always brings me happiness in all its kitchy glory.

Blue Branches and Blossoms started as a drawing exercise and morphed into a digital rendering. It is inspired by old Asian prints of cherry blossoms trees and the colors of the American flag. Happy Fourth and stay safe everyone! 🙂

Raven Skulls, Messengers to the Underworld. This mixed media artwork is inspired by the mythology of the raven, of a protective beast who journeys into the dark underworld to warn and inform humanity– a visionary creature that can see beyond the threshold of death, into the past and future. Fascinating that in some mythologies, ravens are associated with darkness, but in others, it’s associated with goodness and light, as a creator.

Tribute piece of Zillo, my lil sulcata tortoise, who sadly passed away earlier this week. Creating this piece was healing, a testament to art as therapy. I took a few creative licenses with cartoonizing the face a bit, with rounder eyes and an extra large sweet smile 🙂
