“Bird Skull Mandala” is inspired by the beauty of the macabre, with a detailed winged pattern drawn meticulously with pen/ink. I love creating a piece that combines the simple elegance of nature with the dark side of life. For a small price, you can indulge in this stunning piece and add this print to your collection or as a small gift for your friends or family: HERE on Etsy
“Waking Dream” is inspired by horror films, zombies and magic. The core of the design is a rendered skull of rocks, with the spirits seeping through below. It was mostly created via several pens and a touch of graphite. I added a tint of green and yellow for the eyes–subtle coloring via Photoshop.
“Aztec Woman” was inspired by the beauty and strength of the Ancients, where magic and lore run free. It was also inspired by Santánico Pandemonium, a vampire snake goddess character from the popular TV series “From Dusk Till Dawn”. I created the drawing with pen/ink and digitally colored the background. The tones and shading are kept simple and not hyper-realistic, to emulate a vintage poster style, and a reminder of the fictional environment that this lovely woman resides in.
Before visiting the Red Sea, I knew it would be beautiful, but wow, photos alone did not do this place justice. I departed from the shores of Hurghada aboard a boat to a scuba diving location. The varying tones of the blue waters were intensely vibrant.
The “Hanging Church” (also known as Saint Virgin Mary’s Coptic Orthodox Church) in old Cairo, Egypt, has a fantastic mesh of Middle-Eastern geometric design and Basilican architecture. While approaching the entrance, there were a dozen heavily armed guards and a tank, a sad reminder of the perilous times we live in. The interior of the church was darker than I anticipated, but the lovely candles throughout created a mesmerizing ambiance.
